Hides Alliance Group
Working with local people and businesses has been one of our top priorities since the earliest days of planning and development for the PNG LNG Project.
The Hides Alliance Group (HAG), a joint venture between local Landowner company Hides Gas Development Company (HGDC) and PNG Catering company Alliance, is one of many PNG companies that has gone from strength to strength through its involvement with PNG LNG.
Since July 2014, the Hides Alliance Group has run the camp management and catering services at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant (HGCP). The camp routinely caters for up to 500 workers at any one time, with a team of 145 personnel.
A staff development program for the camp resulted in 15 new staff from the Hela region taking on senior and skilled roles within the HGCP camp and catering operations in 2016.
After careful planning, training and selection, the Hides Alliance Group selected the staff, including seven women, to undertake various roles within the camp including housekeeping supervisors, administration officers, food safety officers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and maintenance coordinators.
The ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) logistics team supported the program through assisting with training, to ensure staff were competent and prepared to commence their new roles within the team at HGCP.
The staff are excelling in their roles by maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism, while also acting as role models for others in their communities.
This staff development program is another example of EMPNG’s continued focus on providing tangible development of skills to the workforce in the areas in which we operate.
