Laba Security Services Limited (LSSL), a joint venture between landowner company Laba Holdings and Guard Dog Security and Baker Hughes, a subsidiary of General Electric were recently awarded with safety recognition awards by ExxonMobil PNG Limited for their outstanding safety performance as business partners to PNG LNG.
In bestowing the awards, ExxonMobil PNG (EMPNG) recognises the commitment of both companies to uphold the core value of safety. The shared values of safety, security, excellence, integrity, teamwork and environmental responsibility are essential to the way ExxonMobil and its business partners work together in PNG.
The presentation took place at the EMPNG’s 5th Annual Safety Leadership Forum held recently. The focus for the yearly forum is to collaborate with business partners to continuously improve upon the integrity of ExxonMobil PNG’s operation through a deeper understanding of factors that drive risk tolerance and improving safety leadership.
ExxonMobil PNG Executive Director of Production, Dinesh Sivasamboo said “Laba Security Services and Baker Hughes have excelled in their performance through their focus on training, development and mentorship of their people on the ground in the PNG LNG facilities.”
In receiving the awards, LSSL program manager Addis Balcha said “Our workforce feels so grateful to have received this from ExxonMobil PNG. Partnering with EMPNG encourages our workforce to work safely and has a huge impact on our safety culture.”
David Lindsay, the Contract Performance Manager from Baker Hughes said working with a partner who holds the same values reinforces a strong and open safety culture. “ExxonMobil PNG is a key partner for us and having an interdependent HSE (health, safety and environment) culture pushes us to perform better every day.”
Mr Sivasamboo said no business objective is more important than the safety of employees, contractors, and the people who live and work in and around ExxonMobil PNG’s operations.
LSSL provides guard services at the LNG plant while Baker Hughes supplies the Hides Plant with gas turbine driven pipeline gas compressors and the LNG Plant with gas turbine driven refrigeration compressors.
